Care Rates LLC ("we," "us," or "our") operates Snack Signal ("the App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use the App. Please read this policy carefully. By using the App, you consent to the practices described herein.

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and display name through our authentication provider (Clerk). If you sign in with Apple, Google, or another third-party provider, we receive basic profile information as permitted by your settings.

Food-Mood Logs

The App allows you to log your meals, snacks, cravings, and associated emotional states. This data is stored to provide you with personalized insights and patterns over time.

AI Conversations

When you interact with the AI Craving Coach, your conversation messages are processed to generate responses. Conversation history is stored to improve the continuity and personalization of your experience.

Device Information

We automatically collect certain device and usage information, including device type, operating system version, app version, and general usage analytics. This helps us improve the App and diagnose technical issues.

Payment Information

All payment processing is handled by Apple through In-App Purchases. We do not directly collect or store your payment card details. We receive subscription status information through RevenueCat to manage your access to premium features.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use the information we collect to:

  • Provide, maintain, and improve the App's features and functionality
  • Generate personalized AI responses and weekly insight summaries
  • Process and manage your subscription
  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, and support requests
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the App (in aggregate, anonymized form)
  • Comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data. Your food-mood logs, AI conversations, and personal information are never sold to third parties for advertising or marketing purposes.

3. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the App. Each service receives only the data necessary for its function:

4. Data Security

We implement industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including:

  • Encryption of data in transit (TLS/HTTPS) and at rest
  • Secure authentication through Clerk
  • Access controls limiting who can view your data within our systems
  • Regular security reviews of our infrastructure

While we strive to protect your information, no method of electronic transmission or storage is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security.

5. Data Retention & Deletion

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide you with the App's services. Specifically:

  • Account data: Retained while your account is active
  • Food-mood logs and conversations: Retained while your account is active and for up to 30 days after account deletion
  • Usage analytics: Retained in anonymized, aggregate form indefinitely

You may request deletion of your account and all associated personal data at any time by emailing support@snacksignal.com with the subject line "Account Deletion Request." We will process your request within 30 days.

6. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Correction: Request that we correct inaccurate or incomplete data
  • Deletion: Request that we delete your personal data
  • Portability: Request your data in a portable, machine-readable format
  • Objection: Object to certain processing of your data

7. Children's Privacy

Snack Signal is not intended for children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by posting the updated policy in the App or on our website and updating the "Effective Date" above. Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
